So if you decide to do animation like this, you'll understand how to use storyboards to create your animation in your mind and on paper before you even get started. And one more thing we'll talk about is Storyboarding. So the Work Files folder is definitely something you want to check out. Now granted many of the files we're going to create if you follow along directly with me but just in case you don't have Illustrator for example, I will have all the files that you'll need to follow along in Max. Now I also want to mention that you will find a folder called the Work Files folder which will contain some of the files you'll need.
It will at least give you some familiarity with the application. And in ZBrush we'll talk about some of the basics of how to use the Interface, just in case you'd never ever used ZBrush in your life. We're also going to use ZBrush which is a very, very popular application for digital sculpting and we're going to create a very basic base mesh of a War Hammer inside of Max based on a sketch that I, I will provide for you guys in the Work Files folder. And we'll also talk about how to use the materials so we can give the file cabinet a nice metallic feel.
We're going to just use a couple of boxes and we're going to do some bevels, we're going to do some Boolean Operations which allow us to make cutouts for the shelves and that kind of stuff. For beginners we're going to have a File Cabinet Project which will get you on your feet. We'll also talk about how we can use Photoshop to create a really nice ad featuring a Glass Bottle that we're going to create inside of Max using a lathe which is created from Splines that we draw inside of the application. And we're going to create all the paths for the artwork inside of Illustrator and we're going to bring them into Max and I'll tell you how we can go ahead and bevel those guys so we have the shapes we need for this animation. Some of the projects we'll be doing will entail using 3d Max in conjunction with external applications like Adobe Illustrator which will come in quite handy for one of the projects we're going to do which is an animated stylized scene, Shark Tank. I'm also going to take you guys through quite a few projects that will really get you going and give you the practice you need to really get your mind into Max and how to use the application. We'll talk about shadows and some of the tools that you can use to control your lights, like the Light Lister and all kinds of cool stuff. But not just that, we're going to talk about the Interface, many of the tools, we'll talk about things like the Modifiers, we'll talk about lights. What we're going to do is learn all kinds of cool techniques and if you've never used 3D before, you're right at home here because I'm going to start you off nice and slow and get you modeling and also animating. Hello everybody and welcome to this course on 3ds Max 2012.
